Vanguard Tactics helps Warhammer 40K players get better through two things: focused coaching workshops, and My First Tournament, a beginner-only tournament experience.

Our workshops are interactive training sessions built around specific skills, from army list writing and deployment to secondaries, movement, mindset, and post-game analysis. Led by experienced coaches, each session blends theory, discussion, and practical examples, whether you're building solid foundations or refining a competitive edge.

If you've never played in a tournament before, My First Tournament gives you a guided way in: beginner-exclusive games, hands-on coaching, and a community built to make your first event a confident one.

Beginners Workshop

You've played a few games. Maybe with a friend, maybe at your local club. You're not new to the hobby, but you're still not entirely sure what's happening on the table half the time, and that's starting to hold you back from enjoying it.

The Vanguard Tactics Beginners Workshop is built for exactly that stage: not for someone who's never picked up a rulebook, but for someone who's dipped a toe in and wants solid ground under their feet before they go any further.

Advanced Workshop

We've run this workshop for years at major events, helping hundreds of players walk in feeling calm, prepared, and ready to perform.

My First Tournament

Following the success of our first-ever My First Tournament, where more than 20 players experienced their first competitive event with confidence, community, and support, we’re bringing the experience to back to the Las Vegas Open.

This is your chance to take your first step into the world of competitive Warhammer 40k, with expert coaching, like-minded players, and a structure designed for beginners only.

THE FOUNDER OF VT

As a trained teacher and coach with over 19 years of experience, I decided to dedicate my time to teaching Warhammer players the tactics and strategies that took me years to acquire before I could play with confidence.

Vanguard Tactics was created to be the space I would have wanted when I first started playing. You're probably aware that this game is extremely complex and takes a long time to master.

My approach to strategy and decision making has even been invited beyond the tabletop: I've been a guest lecturer at the U.S. Army's School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS), sharing the same decision-making framework I teach at VT.

At the heart of everything we do is a simple belief: be a great opponent. I'm on a mission to change the culture around competitive gaming, making it more welcoming and more accessible, so more people feel able to get to the table in the first place, not just perform once they're there.

No matter your starting point, Vanguard Tactics has a course for you. We'll give you the clarity you need to improve, the confidence to back it up at the table, and an incredible community to be part of.
